Post # 12 (last post!): A brief essay

Technology it’s a tool to the studies, because exist so many programs to make easier our university student work, like word (to write essays or for made researches) or excel (to calculate things like scores in a test or to do a statistic analysis) or SPSS (to made statistic research) and tools like msn messenger because it’s a good way to talk with your partners or internet with Google, because it simplify our searching for research or to complement the study, with articles and exercises. Summarizing, technology helps us to do a better work at the university, in a good quality and esthetic form. In other way, helps to study more completely.

In a first point, I use SPSS, word and excel; in other topic I use Google for my different subjects, like Laws (to search the different laws like 18575 or 19880 and then edit it in word), in Macroeconomics I just use one time Google to find the Phillips curve, who represent the connection of unemployment and salary. In Sociologic theory I used SPSS, because we have to do a sociologic research and in my group decided to do a survey, so we have to made a information base that we have to examine with this program, using descriptive statistics, like frequencies and contingency tables. In a similar way at Method class we have to use this program to for statistic analysis, and we use word to do tables. In this subject we have to do a research to, so we have to use Internet to search useful information. In English, we have to use internet to do exercises in English, and we have to use a Blog to talk about so many topics, like music, Transantiago, Places that we want to go, and more. At least, in accountancy I use excel for calculate in an easier way.

So, I think I have been so connected with technology at this year, overall in this last semester because I have to do two researches that need necessarily specific computer programs, first because these programs simplify our work and because they were obligatory for the subject contents. But, I think that helps me to learn more about the different uses of the different programs and obviously it helps me for delivered esthetic works and it serves for gave me more information to complement my knowledge and learning.

So, I think that this semester be a good way to become familiar with the different technologies in a best way, to complement my knowledge about this topic. I think technology it’s a great tool for people to simplify their life, and overall for the students who have to use a lot of different programs to do their researches and university works or homework. The point lie to the access that we have to this tool, because not everybody can have the opportunity to have a computer or a laptop, or their computers don’t have the minimum abilities to have all the necessary programs to their careers. So he must to pay attention at this point.

Post # 11: Commenting the news

I think the most important news of this year, or maybe the most important event for Chile considering the year that we are living right now it’s the presidencial election . This is a local story because it’s the chilean election and would be define the politics point of view that would command our country for thw next four years, and define what would be the most important topic to the develop of the country. This kind of news are displaying in many mass media like internet (in newspapers or blogs, twitter and facebook), you can see at tv in the news or in the debate, and in the newspaper too. You can see this kind of news everyday in every mass media, because, if you have to choose the next president, it’s the labour of the journalists delivered the necessary information (and unnecessary too) to have you informed and you have a big kind of information to have a best point of view, with a lot of arguments to discuss. I think this news are so important for me, and specially for the country, because, as I said before, it would define de politics point of view and the importance gived to the most important needs like education, health, culture, sports and many other things that would command our country for the next four years.
I think that it’s an special election because there are four men who wants to be the next chilean president, three who have a more chance and two of them are so closed in the surveys, so we must have put attention on it.
In other way, we are choosing the bicentenary president! So we must think that in next generations, because they where remember that, because it’s an important date to the country.

Post # 10: Challenges in your discipline

This discipline it’s not just about one topic, in fact covers areas like economic, statitstics, laws, sociology, politic science. So, we have to be according at all the changes that those disciplines could do. But, if we have to talk about the challenges in general in de public management we can say that we have a big kind of social and educational challenges, overall if we considered Chile like the point of discussion.
We have to be atending all the society requirements, because we want to work for them.
In my personal opinion, the most important challenge would be the education, because I think that this topic it’s the key for the development. I think if the people have a good education from this begginings they surely would be better persons, because the knowing give tools to be a better persons, and the surely will have better works and will be more considerated with the other people.
So, if we teach with tolerance and respect, we surely have a better society.
I know, those things sounds utopic, but i’m a convenced person who think if we only take the education like the fundamental base of society, I believe that the chilean situation would improve a lot.
The government have to increase the percentage of the education spend, because it’s the only way to improve in this area. Improve the education stablishment, their infrastructure. In other way, the government have to put attention at the professors work, they have to promote their job, and the importance that they have in the society formation, and society must considered too. They are forming the future society, so they have to be people of quality, with values and knowing who need to be according the state requirements.
In technology we have to improve in things like the way that we are attending the bureaucracy, because technology give tools to simplify the government employee work, and I think that we don’t used like it would to be. This challenge it’s important because we have to simplify people’s life, not complicated more with (sometimes) useless deals.

Post # 9: Improving your faculty facilities.

In this faculty we can find a lot of problems about the environment like the chairs, the computers, we don’t have any grass where you can sit and study or talking with your friends. In other way, we don’t have so much space to eat or study, because this palace it’s very little to the number of people that study or work here. But, in the past year we can find a lot of solutions: they put new computers and make a study and reading room, and they put air conditioning to the winter and summer. So, we can’t say that we are in a worst situation, but obviously we have to think in other improvements that we can do in this place.
I think the painting must be improved because when you bring here a friend who doesn’t came before they think that this place it’s a bad place where nobody cares about it, but if you fix that we can stay in a most beautiful place, where the people take care about it. After all, this place it’s a national patrimony, and the last Sunday of may, anyone can visit it. Another thing that can be improved could be the place where we eat, in the “garden” or in the casino. In the first place, we can find aphids, and they fall down the trees and stay in our food, a really disgusting thing. In the second place that I mentioned, when we are eating, the cock pigeons enter to the casino and fly and walk in the tables, and the smell of the food are disgusting too.
We have to solutions those things, because the different situations are unpleasant. But, if we don’t have the institutions support, we can’t fix anything, because we don’t have to money and it’s a thing that don’t correspond to the students. This improvements can make more comfortable our study and stay in this palace.

Post # 8: Free Time and Technology

Technology have a very important place in the dairy life, because they simplify our life with simple but complex things at the same time. There are a lot of things that we can use all the time, like mp3, mp4, pen drives, laptops, palms etc. And in other spaces we have washing machine, wash dishes, etc.
The problem is that people think that technology will save our life, but they forget some important things. For example, if you are all the time at your home staying connected in internet, you wouldn’t’ t have the opportunity to get out and meet other people in real life, you can’t feel the sun, the rain, the air, and you miss opportunities to do new things, go to the parks, go to eat an ice cream with your friends, etc.
I think I don’t have so much free time right now, I think I use 3 hours in a day because in university time I have so much work to do, like tests, or extra program things, like go to seminaries and things like that. On weekend, I “took” Saturday for myself and I to things like go out with my boyfriend and my friends to many places, like parks, expositions, the mall, the cinema, and go to eat something like ice cream, fried potatoes, or things that we cook together, like pasta or a new invention.
In other way, when I have a big free time like vacation time I like to stay at the computer playing games or talking with my friends, see online movies and if I have so much free time I like to read a good book, or do handmade things, like hair accessories or painting or useful things. One day I do a cork board with a draw and a little paper box where you can put pencils, rubbers, and other office things. I like to travel too, and go to visit my grandparents or visit to my boyfriend’s sister or go to the beach, or visit friends who lives out of the city, or go to meet other places.
If I have more free time I will read more, because I love Latin-American literature, and I have a lot of books that I can’t read it yet!
But, vacations are coming, and I will do all those things, and that makes me feel very happy! :D

“Rise in unemployment less than expected”
The article talks about the unemployment at the UK, probably for the consequences of the economic crisis. The economist expecting was wrong, and 1.6268 million people are unemployed. This number it’s the high since April 97, and the people are talking about the benefits that the government have to give it to them. This information was delivered by de The Office of National Statistics (ONS). In other words, the people out of work ascend to 7.9%.
For other way, the economists are optimists, because they think that the recession would pass soon, and the economy will giving jobs, "until the economy is growing back at potential or above, and that is still some way off", how tells Alan Clarke of BNP Paribas
But people just want work or benefits to live, and they are claming for this above six months.
In other case, there are people that think that the business have to recovered first, because are so many firms that are fighting for surviving yet.
Alan Tomlinson said that the cash flow are uncertain and the companies have to dismiss people to stay at the market.
But other problem are the age of the most unemployed 16-24 years old, because this generation are becoming a “lost generation”. The firms don’t have money to hire for complacency, they need the fair and necessary employees.
In conclusion, they need to end the unemployment, because they are missing big talents and people who have the ability to do things for their country.

Post # 6: a world of sport

Personally I don’t do any sports, because when I was younger I have a heart illness, and I have four operations, two of those were open heart surgery. So I can’t do much sports, because I get tired in just a few minutes, and I don’t train in all my life, so I don’t have a good physical conditions.
Anyway, I think sports are so many important for people and for the nation, because sports gives you important values like effort, perseverance, responsibility and love and respect for the body, and for other way you have best physical conditions, so when you get old you have best chances to live more longer than the people who don’t do any sport in their life.
For the country, sports are a good way to decrease the delinquency, and improve the people’s life quality, with a healthy life style.
But nowadays sport are don’t considerate at the governments, because some topics are more important, who it’s true, but they don’t think about little things who can change the vision and the attitudes of the people. And education doesn’t considered too, because for example the sports psychologists can’t study this mayor in Chile, they have to do in other countries, and people doesn’t know the importance of this mayor or the changes who can be if we admit their importance. That would be a form to encourage people to do some sports, incentive them to do sports, show the importance to do sports in simple life.
I considerer “rodeo a la chilena” a popular sport, but I think that the bad treatment to animals don’t are a good way to express the values of the make sports, so I think that bullfight it’s doesn’t deserved call a sport or a good activity.
I think that all the activities who gave values and make an improvement in the simple life are good practices for people, and sports gives you relax and a way to improve yourself.
